We're fighting for period equality
phs is leading the way when it comes to tackling period equality. We’re lifting the lid on the scale of the issue, supporting charitable causes and engaging with government, local authorities, schools and businesses.
As part of our phs period equality initiative, we’ve commissioned new research into the experiences and opinions of girls surrounding period poverty and have launched an awareness-raising campaign.
Our research has suggested that the inability to access period products can have a detrimental impact on learners’ attendance and academic achievement. In response to the growing period equality agenda and rise in demand from our customers, we’ve created a free-vend sanitary dispenser. Free-vend machines offer a real solution as installing these within washrooms gives females who need it instant and discreet access to sanitary products without the embarrassment or inconvenience of having to visit an office or school nurse.
We are also working with the Department for Education to implement a new Period Product Provision scheme which will ensure free period products are available to students who need them, in state-maintained schools and colleges in England.
This scheme will enable all learners to participate fully in education by making period products available as and when they are needed. For more information, please click here.
